The spirit of Rosecamp

The cultural heritage of Rosecamp is special because it represents a confluence of histories – from early Māori occupation to European settlement and the ongoing guardianship of the land. It’s a heritage woven into the very fabric of the landscape, evident in the natural features and the narratives passed down through time. Protecting this heritage means honouring the past and preserving the essence of Rosecamp for future generations.

Nature's enduring legacy

Rosecamp's native plants and species are not just ecological treasures; many hold significant cultural practices and beliefs. From traditional Māori uses for rongoā (medicine) and kai (food) to their role in local stories and historical daily life, these species are integral to Rosecamp’s cultural narrative. Our restoration efforts aim to not only re-establish these vital plants but also to acknowledge and celebrate their cultural importance.

"Understanding our past illuminates our path forward."
